frankfurt industrial at night

Not just since the establishment of the European Central Bank, Frankfurt eastend around the Hanauer Landstraße changed significantly. For decades it was the local industrial area of downtown Frankfurt. In the 1990s things changed.

In the 1990s decade when I finished school and every weekend we were partying anywhere in the Rhein Main area some of the venues were at Hanauer Landstrasse. Old abandoned factory buildings were transformed to stroboscope-equipped hidden party venues with massive bass beats and loud techno music. Today, the factory buildings are gone or changed into offices where creative agencies found their new homes. But still, Hanauer Landstrasse kept its somehow scruffy images and a lot of industrial elements are yet to be explored, especially at night.
